Classic Caprese

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. fresh mozzarella

  • 4 medium heirloom tomatoes

  • 1 bunch fresh basil, leaves only (some reserved for garnish)

  • Salt Sisters Black Garlic Salt

  • Coarsely ground black pepper

  • Olive oil

Directions

  1. While the mozzarella is still cold, slice into ¼-inch rounds. Set aside and allow it to come to room temperature.

  2. Slice tomatoes into ¼- to ½-inch rounds and arrange in a single layer. Sprinkle generously with Black Garlic Salt.

  3. On a serving platter, layer the mozzarella, tomato slices, and basil leaves so they slightly overlap.

  4. Pour any reserved tomato juices over the dish, then finish with additional Black Garlic Salt, freshly ground black pepper, and a generous drizzle of olive oil.
    Top with reserved basil leaves just before serving.
